Ecumenical Patriarch plans to visit US in 1997

NEW YORK [RNS] — As this issue of The Orthodox Church goes to press, it was learned that His All-Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople is scheduled to pay his first pastoral visit to the US in the fall of 1997.

According to a Religious News Service release dated December 24, 1996, His Eminence, Archbishop Spyridon of the Greek Orthodox Church in America announced the visit, tentatively set for October 20 to November 9. The Patriarch's itinerary will include stops in New York, Washington, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles and other cities.
