Father Economou's letter to Metropolitan Methodios
suddenly and suspiciously announces
he does not want to be an APC representative

February 26, 1999

His Eminence Methodios
Metropolitan of Aneon
Diocese of Boston
162 Goddard Avenue
Brookline, MA 02146

Your Eminence, in a recently appearing web site on the internet,, and on the first; the article mentions my name in reference to representing our Clergy Brotherhood to APC along with that of Fr. Panagiotes Giannakopoulos. The article states I was forced out as a representative and was replaced by the now president of the Brotherhood Fr. Tom Chininis. The article further states the election was irregular since we, Fr. Panagiotes Giannakopoulos and I, were elected to represent our Brotherhood for two years.

In order to set the record straight, I wish to state at this time that I took it upon myself and without due stress or pressure to relinquish - resign - my position as representative to APC so that the newly elected president, Fr. Tom Chininis represent our Brotherhood. I did this, Your Eminence, because of my strong conviction that the president ought to represent our Brotherhood to APC together with the vice president and an alternate member to serve when needed.

I hope this statement will set the record straight as it pertains to the reasons why I chose out of my free will to relinquish my position to APC.

Asking for your prayers and blessings.

With deep respect,
Fr. George E. Economou
