Statement of John A. Catsimatidis

NEW YORK — John A. Catsimatidis, the President of the Archdiocesan Council issued the following statement regarding the recent meeting in the Phanar of Archbishop Spyridon and the Members of the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America:

«  In recent days, His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has acted decisively in a special way for the good of the Church in America.

»  His All Holiness has clearly spoken out for unity and solidarity in his beloved Church in America.

»  His All Holiness has shown us through his wisdom the challenges before us, and with his prayers and guidance, we will meet those challenges.

»  His All Holiness has spoken for a strong Archdiocese to lead the Orthodox Faith in America.

»  His All Holiness has stated unequivocally that Archbishop Spyridon is the leader to pilot the Archdiocese into the new millennium.

»  Our Church has open arms and heartily welcomes everyone, without judgment. By the example of the genuine Christian love of His All Holiness, let us clear the air and begin anew.

»  Let us all join and go to Church this Sunday, and light a candle for the unity and the future of the Greek Orthodox Church in America. »
