Where is Father Alex Karloutsos?

On Monday, the world witnessed one of the most historical buildings in the world burn for hours. By Wednesday, there has been nearly a BILLION dollars to help restore the Notre Dame Cathedral. It has been 18 years since "the only house of worship was destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks" and the GOA cannot even build an $80 million dollar Shrine in New York.

The person assigned by the Archbishop to raise the funds for the Saint Nicholas Shrine is Father Alex Karloutsos. Many know Father Alex as a priest who works as the Public Affairs Officer for the GOA, but his role and responsibilities extend far beyond the public's knowledge. There have been many stories written about Father Alex.

A 2016 opinion piece examines Father Alex's background and connections. There is a facade about Father Alex that many are attempting to expose. Many question whether it is appropriate to have such a "character questioning" person representing Christ's Church. One priest in the GOA described Father Alex saying, "He is the type of person that can move between the shadows. You do not see him but you definitely know he is there."

Another priest said, "Father Alex knows where all the skeletons are buried, probably because he buried them himself."

Father Alex Karloutsos has made it no secret that he knows a lot of things. One interesting story involves Father Alex telling many people that he can no longer return to Turkey to visit our Ecumenical Patriarch because he helped secure the necessary documentation for Fethullah Güllen, a Turkish cleric that the Turkish government declared to be responsible for the Coup against Erdogan. If Father Alex steps foot on Turkish soil, he will likely be arrested and put in prison. See number 15 on the following court record.

This is the person the Archbishop chose to raise funds for the Saint Nicholas Shrine. Since construction of the Shrine came to a halt years ago, there has been no update on when it will resume. There have been no public statements from Father Alex. There has been no communication from the Archdiocese in 2019 about the Saint Nicholas Shrine. Why not? When will the faithful be properly informed as to how many more millions of dollars it will take to build a Church that can seat less than 200 people?

The man who can "move between the shadows" has gone completely silent and no one seems to even notice that he is missing in action. Where are you Father Alex? Did you get lost in money?

<<>> According to that first article he knows all sorts of billionaires. If he can't get any money for the St. Nicholas Shrine it's because he has no interest in it. Maybe he is lost in his new mansion. According to a reputable internet source, he moved to a $1.5 million house in Pelham, NY a few years ago.

"Detailed to perfection, this Pelham Manor gem has been totally renovated. With nearly 4700 square feet of spectacular living space, this impeccable 6 bdrm, 3.5 bath home offers everything! The stunning main level includes a large kitchen/great rm combination (42' x 17') featuring top-of-the line appliances and ultra cool built-in coffee/espresso machine."

Maybe he will have the Cool Met over for some "cool espresso!" How does a simple priest afford a $1.5 million house? Why does he need six bedrooms? The kind of people leading our church are far closer to the mafia than men of god. I am guessing his new house is so large he is lost in it. My wish is that he take a trip to Turkey where they also have housing accomodations all ready for him.

http://tinyurl.com/y5eqw5p6 According to this National Herald article, Fr. Alex is "the Orthodox chaplain for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey." And yet when the Port Authority recently offered to help finish the St. Nicholas Shrine in New York the Archbishop told them to go jump in a lake. Does this make sense? As my cousin Penelope said, "they don't want the Port Authority to know the true nature of their finances." That makes sense.

http://tinyurl.com/y64qnmu2 In this 2015 article, Fr. Alex says he is "overjoyed" to "expect" the Shrine will be open by Pascha of 2017. Oops! Pascha 2027 is more like it at the current pace of construction. Can a person be lost in money? I will ask my priest that on Sunday.
